Non-Working Firefighting Equipment Cause Tragedy
A 4 year old Phoenix girl died tragically this past November due to a non-working fire alarm. Firefighters found an alarm that had been removed and placed inside a closet upside down and sadly this is not an isolated incident. Poor firefighting equipment such as fire alarms that are not properly installed cause endless harm, injuries and deaths each year.Gina Enders-Stenner, a burn prevention specialist says, "The problem now is that there are more homes with non-working smoke alarms than homes without any alarms at all. There is a very false sense of security."
In 2008 a survey was done that claimed 96% of households have smoke alarms but a whopping 41% of them did not work.
