Firefighting Tools For Forcible Entry Situations

There are a number of essential firefighting tools a firefighter will need. For forcible entry situations one of the most important tools to carry is a Haligan Bar, flat headed axe, pick headed axe or multi-purpose screwdriver with removable tips. To gain entry into a door or window, to pry loose floorboards or to create ventilation you will need these tools for critical situations. Some of these tools will be used together to break out glass, find your way out of a building or to break down walls of wood or drywall. These items will be used to remove screws, bolts and other barriers that will block entry. Firefighting Tools For Gaining Entry Into A Building

A firefighting operation cannot begin until you gain entry into the burning structure. Different buildings require certain tools such as a hydraulic forcible entry tool. You may also need a torch, metal cutting saws or through the lock tools. Along with prying tools you will need striking tools such as a flat head axe, sledgehammer or maul. There have been tools produced that are effectively multiple tools in one. These are good in some cases but do not perform as well as individual tools. The tools and equipment you have should depend on your response district and the firefighters who will be using them. Each one plays an important role in the first phase of a firefighting incident.
